Customer: MCA-Armenia SNCO
Completion date is May 15, 2011
The Cost of Project is 5 512 827 $ USA
Ajgezard
The Project stipulates for replacement of power-operated irrigation schemes with a gravity irrigation system for irrigation of 702 ha territory, 306 ha of which are to be used in future.
Description of structures:
Included in the project are the works on construction of the following principal structures:
- Construction of L=8424 m long Aygezard Main Canal and of 97 structures.
- Laying of L=364 m long pipeline of D=2744 mm pipes for feeding Nor Ughi No.1 water-pump station.
- The feeding of pressure pipeline of Nor Ughi No.2 water-pump station shall be made from the discharge gaging station at DM 79+68 of Aygezard Canal.
The works comprise laying of pipelines and installation of reinforced concrete flumes on the stretch of 8.805 km, construction of cast-in-place concrete and cast-in-place RC chambers, mounting of equipment.
The said works involve excavation of natural soil, drainage, shuttering and reinforcement of concrete, its compaction to the required degree, installation of necessary steel structures, mounting of gates, performance of works connected with transfer of equipment and materials to the Construction Site and their arrangement.
Short characteristics of structures designed in the Project:
- conduits of steel pipes with diameters D=273 mm, 720 mm, 820 mm and 1020 mm on the total length of 4.089 km;
- conduits of precast LR-8 reinforced concrete flumes at the stretch of 4.446 km;
- concrete, RC structures, outlets and water gaging units, distribution and overflow chambers along the full length of L=270 m.
Mantash
The implementation of Project would permit a regular supply of water to lands under command of the Mantash scheme, and in case of construction of Panic-Meghrashen gravity irrigation canal it will be possible to irrigate 320 ha area, including 75 ha in the Panic Community and 245 ha in Meghrashen, to decommission the Artik PS and save 484.49 thous. kW of electricity.
The planned arrangements and short description of works:
The project provides for:
- rehabilitation of the right bank and left bank canals
- design of the new Panic-Meghrashen gravity irrigation canal.
It is envisaged that as a result of rehabilitation the existing cross section of canal will be restored.
The following rehabilitation activities shall be undertaken:
- cleaning the canals of sediments and vegetation;
- removal of deteriorated concrete of bottom and sides (the upper layer is demolished);
- cleaning the exposed surfaces of the sides and bottom;
- filling of cavities emerged in the sides and bottom with B7.5 class concrete;
- placing of 10 cm thick layer of B12.5 class concrete over the existing concrete;
- placing of 10 cm thick layer of B12.5 class concrete over the existing concrete of the sides of canal at stretches with trapezoidal section;
- placing of 10 cm thick layer of B12.5 class concrete over the vertical sides of canal at stretches with the walls of primarily tuff masonry, where to make the contact between newly places and old concretes more reliable, the pins made of 10AI reinforcement were preliminarily driven in existing walls and 6AI reinforcing fabric stretched;
- arrangement of transverse joints spaced at 4 m separation along all the canal length;
- repair of water outlets by mounting new gates;
- at stretches, where the walls of canals have the lining of (31.5) m precast RC plates, it is envisaged to dismantle and place the lining plates, by replacing the destructed plates by new ones. The plates shall be placed on the layer of B 7.5 class concrete blinding coat.
Shenik
The Project of Shenik Irrigation Scheme provides for the following works:
- reconstruction of L=7441 m long stretch of the discharge canal of Hoktemberyan No.2 Water-pump Station, including:
- installation of prefabricated L-10-30-2 structures L=4074 m
- installation of precast LR-8 reinforced concrete model flumes L=1368 m
- installation of precast LR-6 reinforced concrete model flumes L=1494 m
- structures - 505 m
Vardenis
The main objective of project is the guaranteed supply of irrigation water to all water consumers.
Short description of specified arrangements and works:
The Vardenis irrigation scheme is constructed with a view to rehabilitation of Masric canal.
It is envisaged to rehabilitate the canal to its existing section. For rehabilitation of canal the following arrangements are planned:
- Cleaning the canal of the sediments, bushes and grass.
- Cleaning of the exposed concrete surfaces of the slopes and bottom of the canal.
- Filling of B 7.5 mark concrete in the cavities formed in the slopes and bottom of canal.
- Placing of 10 cm thick layer of B 12.5 Mark concrete over the existing concrete of canal bottom.
- Placing of 10 cm thick lining of B 12.5 mark concrete over the existing concrete of the slopes of canal stretches with trapezoidal section.
- Placing of 10 cm thick lining of B 12.5 mark concrete over the existing concrete of canal slopes at stretches with rectangular section, by preliminarily driving of pins into the existing concrete to make the cohesion between the old and new concretes more reliable.
- Arrangement of transverse joints with 4 m spacing along all the canal length.
- The stretches of canal, the left sides of which is as high on the external side as 2.5 m , shall be concreted by preliminarily driving of pins into the existing concrete to make the cohesion between the old and new concretes more reliable.
- Erection of fence.
- Repair of plain leafs of gates at DM 0+65.
- Rehabilitation of all water outlets by means of mounting of new gates.
- Construction of new concrete walls on the right side of canal stretches where they are lacking.
- Cleaning the inner side of pipes under the existing bridges of the sediments.
